About Me
Hi, I’m Talita Nell, a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) who works with children, youth, and young adults. I bring a warm, relational approach to counselling and believe that meaningful change happens in the context of safe, supportive relationships. My goal is to help young people feel heard, understood, and empowered to face life’s challenges with greater confidence and clarity.
Who I Support
I work with children and youth who are struggling with:
Anxiety, stress, or emotional overwhelm
Low self-esteem or self-doubt
School-related challenges or peer difficulties
Grief and loss
Family transitions and relationship struggles
I also support college and university students with stress, life changes, and relationships.
How I Work
My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and practical. I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and mindfulness-based practices. I use creative, age-appropriate strategies that help young clients express themselves, explore emotions, and build skills for emotional regulation and problem-solving.
Common Focus Areas
Anxiety and emotional regulation
Building self-esteem and confidence
Coping with stress and big emotions
Navigating school and social challenges
Strengthening family communication and connection
Group Programs & Team Approach
In addition to one-on-one counselling, I facilitate Mood Managers, a group program designed to help kids develop emotional awareness, build resilience, and learn coping strategies in a fun and engaging setting. At Harbour Family Counselling, we also take a team-based approach. While I may work with a child or youth, a parent or caregiver may be supported by one of our other counsellors, allowing the whole family to grow together while receiving support that meets each person’s unique needs.
Credentials & Background
Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, University of Victoria
Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, City University
Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), BC Association of Clinical Counsellors
Extensive experience supporting children and families in school and community settings
Outside the Office
Outside of counselling, I enjoy staying active, spending time in nature, and connecting with my family and friends. I believe in the importance of balance, movement, and play and I bring that spirit into my work with young people and families.
