Payment and Insurance

  • Payment is required at the end of each session unless other arrangements are made in advance. Accepted forms of payment include: cash, cheque, e-transfer, or credit card.

You can safely save your credit card in your booking profile on Janeapp and payment will be processed automatically.

A receipt will be emailed to you for your extended health care plan and tax purposes. Fees for Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC) are often covered by extended health plans. It is recommended that you check with your plan directly as plans vary.

  • Paying by credit card is a commonly accepted and easy way to book as it is all done automatically by our system (Janeapp)

You must have a credit card on file before you can book any session.

  • You are welcome to pay with cash or by e-transfer, if that is the most convenient way for you. We will provide a recipt to you.

You will still need to have a credit card on file before you can book a session.

  • Many extended health benefit plans cover counselling with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). We provide receipts you can submit for reimbursement. Check with your provider for details.

  • Yes, we offer direct billing for some providers. Please contact us to find out more.

  • If you are under 25 (or whatever age your parent’s plan specifies) and listed as a dependent, you can usually claim counselling fees through that employer-sponsored extended health plan. Many workplace plans cover Registered Clinical Counsellors at 80–100 percent up to an annual dollar limit.

Some benefits providers allow for direct billing. If yours do not, you will need to pay for each session before submitting the receipt to the benefits provider for reimbursement.

You can safely store your credit card information in your booking profile on Janeapp and payment will be processed automatically. We also accept cash, cheque, and e-transfer.

If you also have UVSS or CCSS coverage, you can coordinate benefits: claim first through the plan that covers the higher percentage, then submit the remaining balance to the second plan until your fees are fully or partly paid. Check the details of each plan for specific percentages, annual caps, and any referral requirements.

  • Yes. The Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs) at Harbour Family Counselling are covered through benefits plans across Canada. However, insurance coverage does not extend outside of Canada.

Workplace and Private Health Insurance

Our Registered Clinical Counsellors are covered by most workplace and private health plans, including Pacific Blue Cross.

  • We can bill sessions directly to Pacific Blue Cross, provided you have coverage for working with an RCC.

You will be asked on your counselling intake form to share your group policy number and your member ID.

  • We can bill your sessions directly to Sun Life, provided you have coverage for working with an RCC.

There is a consent form from Sun Life that you will need to complete so that we can send your invoices to them.

  • We can bill sessions directly to Canada Life, provided you have coverage for working with an RCC.

You will be asked on your counselling intake form to share your group policy number and your member ID.

  • We can bill directly to RBC Greenshield, provided you have coverage for working with an RCC.

You will be asked on your counselling intake form to share your group policy number and your member ID.

School and University Coverage

If you’re a student at UVic, Camosun, or another Canadian university, your student health plan often includes counselling coverage. Some home schools are also covered.

  • Darcy Harbour can bill to ASCEND

  • Camosun students receive 80 percent reimbursement, capped at $50 per visit and $500 per benefit year for counselling with a licensed practitioner. After each appointment you submit the receipt through the Gallivan “myStudentPlan” portal or mobile app and the insurer sends the eligible amount back to you. Once the annual $500 limit is reached, you would pay any further sessions out of pocket (or claim through another plan, if you have one).

If you want to coordinate your CCSS benefits with those of your parents, claim first through the plan that covers the higher percentage, then submit the remaining balance to the second plan until your fees are fully or partly paid. Check the details of each plan for specific percentages, annual caps, and any referral requirements.

  • Darcy Harbour can bill for Heritage. Let us know if you are registered with HCOS and would like to work with a different counsellor on our team and we can look into adding them.

  • The UVSS plan reimburses 80 percent of each counselling session, up to a combined maximum of $800 per policy year for all mental-health practitioners, including Registered Clinical Counsellors. You pay the full fee at your appointment, then upload the receipt to Studentcare / Pacific Blue Cross and the refund is usually deposited to your bank account within a week. Most students end up paying about $30 on a $150 session.

If you have extended health benefits through a parent’s plan or your own, we’ll provide detailed receipts to help with reimbursement. We're always happy to walk you through what your insurance might cover so there are no surprises. Just ask, we're here to help.

If you want to coordinate your UVSS benefits (University of Victoria) with those of your parents, claim first through the plan that covers the higher percentage, then submit the remaining balance to the second plan until your fees are fully or partly paid. Check the details of each plan for specific percentages, annual caps, and any referral requirements.
