Welcoming Maria Butler, RCC, to Harbour Family Counselling

We are excited to introduce a new member of the Harbour Family Counselling team: Maria Butler, Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). Maria brings deep compassion, presence, and experience to her practice, and we’re thrilled to welcome her into our community.

Maria offers support to adults, teens, and couples, and has a particular gift for helping clients feel grounded and safe as they explore difficult emotions, life transitions, and relational challenges.

About Maria

Maria holds a Master’s degree in Counselling and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. She has experience supporting clients through a wide range of issues, including:

  • Anxiety and overwhelm

  • Relationship struggles

  • Life transitions

  • Identity and self-esteem

  • Family stress and intergenerational dynamics

Clients who work with Maria often describe her as deeply empathetic, curious, and warm. Her approach is relational and trauma-informed, grounded in presence and deep listening. She draws from evidence-based practices while making space for each client’s unique experience and wisdom.

Why We Chose Maria

At Harbour Family Counselling, we’re intentional about the therapists we bring into our practice. We sought out Maria because of her grounded presence, her strong clinical skillset, and the deep respect she shows for each client’s story.

From the beginning, it was clear that Maria shares our values—collaboration, care, and the belief that healing happens in safe, attuned relationships. Her ability to meet clients where they are while gently guiding them toward growth stood out to us immediately.

We’ve seen firsthand how Maria creates a calm and connected space for her clients. She is someone we trust deeply and highly recommend to anyone looking for a thoughtful, skilled, and compassionate therapist.

Maria’s Approach

Maria believes that healing happens in relationship—with ourselves, with others, and within the space of the counselling room. She holds space with care and steadiness, helping clients to move at their own pace while also inviting growth and insight.

Whether you're navigating a challenging chapter in your life, seeking support as a couple, or wanting to better understand your emotional patterns, Maria brings both clinical skill and human warmth to the work.
